Crispy Garlic Sesame Edamame

1. Crispy Garlic Sesame Edamame

Forget the bland, steamed edamame you get at casual sushi joints. This version coats tender soybeans in a sticky, savory glaze infused with garlic, toasted sesame, and a kick of chili.

Ingredients

2 cups frozen young soybeans (in pods)
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp gluten-free Tamari
1 tsp chili flakes or sambal oelek (optional)
Flaky sea salt for finishing

Method

Boil or microwave the edamame according to package instructions until tender, then drain well.
Heat the sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chili flakes, sautéing for 30 seconds until fragrant (be careful not to burn the garlic!).
Toss in the cooked edamame and drizzle with Tamari. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until the sauce caramelizes slightly and coats the pods.
Transfer to a bowl and sprinkle generously with flaky sea salt.

          Notes

Squeeze a fresh lime wedge over the top right before serving to instantly elevate the brightness of the garlic and sesame.
